One of the themes I return to over and over again is the semi-circle. When I first started painting—I would often create semi-circles with intricate patterns inspired by rangoli—an Indian artform that is done to celebrate Diwali by creating intricate patterns on the ground using colored powders. 800 is an ode to rangoli, but in a minimalistic style.
